Description
This sale is for what the seller believes to be a photograph that has a connection to James A. Allison who was one of the four founders of the Indy Motor Speedway. James Allison built a precision machine shop near the speedway to improve race cars. As the US entered World War I, Allison devoted his shop resources to the war effort, including making parts for Liberty Aircraft engines. The photo is marked at the bottom "BATTERY OF POTTER & JOHNSON AUTOMATICS USED FOR MACHINING LIBERTY ENGINE VALVE CAGES". The photo is attached to a mat board that measures 12 inches in width and 10 inches in height. Look for another vintage photograph that this seller is listing, which shows what the seller believes to be the Liberty Engine Plant in Indianapolis, Indiana. Study the pictures carefully as there are no returns. This seller does not ship internationally.
